Constable Joe Hadley does not need to see a psychiatrist after an incident where he was taken hostage. He just needs the publicity around the stupid event to go away. But Hadley isn’t getting what he wants, which is why he’s sitting in Dr. Michael Rawlings’s office. Having Dr. Rawlings as his shrink is just the cherry on top of a rotten sundae, since Hadley has a huge crush on the older man. What will happen if his session with Rawlings reveals Hadley’s desire to be on his knees, submitting to the psychiatrist? Hadley isn’t sure if he doesn’t want to find out…or if he does.
Kim Dare takes readers on the journey of a submissive first exploring his needs and desires in Handcuffs and Leather. There’s sweetness and the wonder of discovery mixed in with eroticism in this first Rawlings Men tale. It’s easy to become invested in Rawlings and Hadley’s journey, because they’re incredibly likeable heroes. The relationship between them builds quickly, helped along by the fact that they both have wanted each other for quite some time. If I had one wish, it would be that Handcuffs and Leather was a bit longer. With Hadley just entering into his first D/s relationship and the two men really just scratching the surface at knowing each other, the romance aspect of Handcuffs and Leather felt a bit unnaturally rushed. Still, I enjoyed Handcuffs and Leather overall and I look forward to jumping into the next Rawlings Men story, Handcuffs and Glory Holes.
